Lamprechtshöhle

Lamprechtshöhle

The Lamprecht Cavern writes world records:

Longest passageway cavern of the world!

One also knows the Lamprecht Cavern with the names Lamprechtshöhle, Lamprechtsofen and Ofenloch.

With its total expansion of 35km, the Lamprechtshöhle in St. Martin near Lofer is part of the largest cavern systems in Europe.

Polish cavern researchers discovered another cavern entrance at an elevation of 2178m in 1993, the Lamprechtshöhle is since then the longest passageway cavern of the world.

A part of the cavern was developed and made easily accessible for visitors. The safe paths, stairs and footbridges go about 600 metres into the cavern. You traverse many tunnels in the Lamprechtshöhle, and you will then finish in a large hall. It surmounts a height difference of 70 metres.

By the way, in summer, when it is hot outside, the cavern is a particularly popular destination because the cavern interior has cool temperatures.

You find a guesthouse directly at the entrance to the cavern, taking care for the required refreshments.

Just in case you caught the cavern fever, you can participate in a cavern guide in the deeper parts of the cavern. Visit deep into the interior of the researchers part!

TIP: Access to the cavern is free with the Salzburger Saalachtal Summer Card. As often as you want to!

The Lamprechtshöhle is open in winter and summer, and is an unforgettable experience whether sun, rain or snow.
